Maarten Boot is Senior Policy Advisor at FEPORT – the Federation of European Private Port Companies and Terminals – since 2019. FEPORT represents the interests of a large variety of terminal operators and stevedoring companies performing operations and carrying out activities in the seaports of the European Union. At FEPORT, Maarten Boot ensures the functioning of the Environment, Safety and Security Committee (ESSC) and the Customs Committee, which both have a focus on the security of ports and supply chains.
As part of the work of these two Committees, Maarten Boot supports the implementation of the SAFEDigimar project. The project is implemented by a consortium including France Cyber Maritime, the Italian Maritime Cluster Federazione/del Mare and FEPORT. The project aims at promoting the implementation of measures in compliance with NIS 2 while developing tailor-made solutions to strengthen the cybersecurity of the maritime sector and ports.
Maarten Boot studied Political Science and International Law at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where he developed a strong interest in the functioning of the European Union.
