Dr Victor Vevera is the Director General of the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics, Romania’s leading public research institution in information technology, cybersecurity, and digital innovation. He has led the institute’s strategic development, expanding its national and international role in advanced digital technologies, secure infrastructure, and applied research.
Under his leadership, ICI Bucharest has strengthened its position as a center of excellence in cybersecurity, blockchain, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, digital governance, and highperformance computing. The institute has also been involved in major European and national innovation initiatives, including hosting Romania’s first AI infrastructure project under a European consortium.
Mr. Vevera has actively represented Romania in numerous international forums dedicated to technology, cyber policy, and digital resilience. In 2023, he was unanimously elected Vice-Chair of the International Council for Information Technology in Government Administration, reflecting his international recognition in digital public administration and technology governance.
He is also involved in promoting cooperation between government, academia, and industry, supporting the modernization of public services, innovation ecosystems, and national cyber resilience. He has been a frequent speaker at major security and technology conferences, including the Bucharest Security Conference and Black Sea Defense & Aerospace.
