Ali Mohammed is a Senior OT Cybersecurity Engineer and Head of the OT Research, Development and Innovation Lab at Resilience, where he leads the design and build of security capabilities for critical infrastructure environments. His work spans OT/ICS security architecture, detection engineering, and the safe integration of AI into industrial security operations. He is the architect behind an in-house OT SOC solution and secure remote access platforms for industrial control systems, deployed across water, energy, petrochemical, and defense manufacturing environments. His current research focuses on operationally safe AI for OT security operations centers, with particular emphasis on keeping AI in an advisory role that respects the safety and reliability constraints of industrial systems. Ali has delivered advanced OT/ICS security training across the energy and oil and gas sectors, and has spoken at the Global Aviation Issues Conference on building cyber resilience in airport operations. He holds a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, with published research in ACM conferences and formal recognition from Saudi Arabia’s National Cybersecurity Authority for his R&D contributions to the field.

It strengthens protection by improving threat detection, automating responses, and predicting attacks through advanced data analysis and anomaly detection. However, malicious actors can also exploit AI to develop more sophisticated attacks. We investigate how effective defence requires harnessing AI’s benefits while managing its risks through strong security controls and continuous adaptation.
