Daniel Golston is an Associate Programme Officer at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe’s Action against Terrorism Unit in Vienna, Austria. In this role, he leads the portfolio on the protection of critical infrastructure and soft targets, collectively termed vulnerable targets, including the OSCE’s flagship project in this area: Project PROTECT. From 2019-2022, Daniel served as a Policy Analyst for the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) and Vulnerable Targets Sub-Directorate at INTERPOL’s Counter-Terrorism Directorate. During this time, he held the role of INTERPOL Chairperson of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Coordination Compact Working Group on Emerging Threats and Critical Infrastructure Protection, coordinating the relevant efforts of 27 UN and non-UN organizations. He has also held posts in INTERPOL’s Chemical and Explosives Terrorism Prevention Unit, the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research’s (UNIDIR) Conventional Arms Control Programme and UNIDIR’s Emerging Security Threats Programme. He holds a Master of Philosophy in International Relations and Politics from the University of Cambridge.
