Robert Pelzer studied sociology and criminology at Free University of Berlin and University of Hamburg. His main research areas are political violence and terrorism, police research, and reconstructive social research. From 2006–2009 he worked at the Centre for Modern Oriental Studies (ZMO) in Berlin in the area of project management and public relations. Afterwards he worked on a project about “violence on the 1st of May in Berlin“at the Institute for Criminology at Free University of Berlin. Between 2010 and 2013 he conducted the BMBF-funded project „Technical prevention of Low-Cost-Terrorism“ at the Institute for Social Criminological Research at University of Hamburg. In his doctoral work, he has investigated the target selection of jihadist terrorist attacks in Europe. Since 2014, he is senior researcher at the Centre for Technology and Society (CTS) at Technical University of Berlin where he is doing research in the area of inter-organisational crisis management.
