Per Kristen Brekke has a long career in The Norwegian Navy that includes command of submarines, submarine flotilla and staff positions in NATO. He was Military Secretary to Ministers of Defence Fjærvoll and Løwer. He served as Deputy Director General in the Ministry of Defence in the area International Security and Defence Cooperation upon retiring as a Captain in 2004.
Until May 2016 Per Kristen Brekke was head of the Department of Research and National Preparedness in DSB with responsibilities covering national risk overview and assessments, national exercises, emergency planning and civilian military cooperation.
In May 2016 Per Kristen Brekke was selected to be Deputy Director General in DSB.
